The fascinating true story of Desmond Doss, a WWII soldier who served in Japan without ever firing or carrying a weapon.
Come on down the the lawn to learn about the extraordinary Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Social Network) who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, served as an army medic and saved multiple men without firing or carrying a gun. As the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon, Doss believed that while the war was justified, killing was nevertheless wrong.
From the Oscar-winning director of Braveheart (Mel Gibson) and shot in and around Sydney and rural NSW, Hacksaw Ridge co-stars a number of recognisable Australian actors in this American war epic including Hugo Weaving, Sam Worthington, Rachel Griffiths, Richard Roxburgh and Teresa Palmer.
“Undeniably moving… a well-crafted tale of the valour of man in truly harrowing circumstances.” – Filmink
“Immerses you in the violent madness of war – and, at the same time, it roots its drama in the impeccable valor of a man who, by his own grace, refuses to have anything to do with war.” – Variety
